A Virgin And A Whore

　　90年代來自北歐瑞典的Melodic Death Metal橫掃著整塊的重金屬版圖，此舉也引起了歐陸上眾多樂團的跟進，當瑞典金屬在金屬版圖上攻城掠地之時，地處北歐的芬蘭也悄悄的掘起，有別於瑞典樂團的精悍與熱血，靠著陰柔旋律為主和極為細膩的錄音品質的芬蘭團也在市場上搶下了一席之地。

　　Eternal Tears Of Sorrow在「Vilda Mannu」與「Chaotic Beauty」兩張作品當中都有相當亮眼的表現，之後在2001年所發行的EP「The Last One For Life」便為該團的新風格做了個預告，如同一場成功的前哨戰一般，這張EP擠進了芬蘭的 Official Singles TOP20 的排行榜當中，新專輯也承續著「The Last One For Life」的柔情與愁思，原本具有相當攻擊性雙吉它砲火在新作當中卸下了強力的火網，轉而佈置出敘情與哀怨的音符所交織而成的漫妙旋律。
Eternal Tears Of Sorrow除了維持著一貫的樣式美，也保有著以往Speed/Melodic Death的元素，並且他們也慢慢的將觸角伸往不同的領域當中，在這張新專輯當中的『The River Flows Frozen』與『The Last One For Life』很容易的就勾起心中的那份愁思而引起共鳴，除了這種抒情的曲子之外，像『Fall of Man』這種震撼人心的曲子更是ETOS專輯中所不可或缺的！

　　本專輯展現了Eternal Tears Of Sorrow對於金屬樂的企圖，力求變化與革新，相較前作「Chaotic Beauty」所帶起激昂與亢奮之餘卻以另一種更為內斂與柔情的一面示人，藉以表達自我鞭策的決心。Eternal Tears Of Sorrow又再一次的成功的詮釋了芬蘭金屬獨特的一面，在Thy Serpent、Throes Of Dawn與Children Of Bodom這些團體之中，他們取得了一個相當不錯平衡點，也把自己的特色發揮到了一個相當好的程度，而「A Virgin And A Whore」一定會讓大家清楚的明瞭Eternal Tears Of Sorrow是如何的開創出自己的道路。
